Stillwater Union Cemetery was incorporated in 1863.

History

Join us for a full day of recognition in honor of Revolutionary War Patriots who were laid to rest in Saratoga County. The Saratoga County Historian’s Office secured three grants in 2023 through the William G. Pomeroy Foundation and the Sons of the American Revolution to install Patriot Burial Markers in front of cemeteries that serve as the final resting place for America’s first veterans. The three cemeteries chosen were:

  • The Ormsbee Cemetery 299 Ormsbee Road Greenfield
  • The Jeremiah Smith Cemetery 814 Swaggertown Road Charlton
  • Stillwater Union Cemetery 1168 Hudson Avenue Stillwater

We will begin the day unveiling the marker at The Ormsbee Cemetery at 11am, followed by The Jeremiah Smith Cemetery at 1pm and the Stillwater Union Cemetery at 3pm. Each ceremony will last approximately 20 minutes and will include presentations from local officials, SAR, DAR and local historians. The public is welcome to attend a single ceremony, or all three. Please consider carpooling as there is limited parking at these sites. For additional information please contact Saratoga County Historian Lauren Roberts at 518-884-4749.
